Basic Information
Who can attend Wiltshire Scouts @ Woodhouse Park?

Anyone in Wiltshire Scouts! From Squirrels to Network and everything in between.

When is this camp being held?

20th – 22nd September 2024.

Where is it taking place?

Woodhouse Park Activity Centre, Fernhill, Bristol BS32 4LX.

Why is the event not being held in Wiltshire?

Unfortunately, there are no pre-existing centres suitable for a camp of this size, with the activities we need, in Wiltshire. We’ve taken the decision to use Woodhouse Park Activity Centre who have an amazing range of activities available for everyone to enjoy.

Taking Part
How do I register to attend the event?

Registration is to be carried out at group level, with each attending group registering all of its members once on the booking system. Through the system, the group leader can create as many bookings as they need.

Once the deposit has been paid, the booking will be confirmed. At that point, the group leader can add participants to the group.

Financial Support

Cost should not be a barrier to Scouting. We believe the fee we are charging is fair. If there are participants who have concerns about the cost, the Group should look to subsidise the cost.

Do I have to attend for the whole event?

Ideally, we would love for all members to attend for the whole event.  We understand, however, that this may not be possible. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any discounts or subsidies for part attendance of the event.

How will I get to the event?

We encourage shared travel where possible to minimise the number of vehicles on-site. From minibuses, to sharing lifts with others or hiring coaches for larger groups, shared travel is just one way we aim to create a more sustainable and accessible camp.

Is food provided?

No, groups should arrange their own provision of food. Food deliveries will be allowed. The driver will be directed to a specific location where the order can be collected.

Can I volunteer at this event?

Absolutely! Please register to attend the event using the link above. You’ll need to complete the form and choose the team you’d like to help out with. There will be a small fee for helpers to help cover your food and camping fees. Please make sure to detail any dietary requirements or preferences, as well as accessibility requirements, on your sign-up form.

What about Scout Network?

Scout Network are welcome to attend as Participants or as Helpers! Network who attend as participants will have access to all activities, and will have no additional responsibilities. Network who attend as helpers are expected to help in a shift pattern, completing specific tasks in line with their team’s role. Helpers will have access to the exclusive Helpers’ chill-zone, and will be catered for.

Policies and Procedures
Who will be responsible for Nights Away?

If you don’t have one, that’s ok! We have organised a central Nights Away Permit Holder for the whole camp who will take on that role.

Your local Nights Away Permit Holder can help your group/section deliver a safe and successful camping pitch by sharing their knowledge.

What First Aid provision will be in place?

Each attending group should have immediate access to a first-aider with a minimum of a first response qualification.

We anticipate most minor first-aid incidents to be dealt with locally, however for anything more major, or for advice, we will have a First Aid team on-hand.

What personal information will be collected? How will this be managed?

Please see the Event Privacy Policy, which details all the information collected, how it’s processed and how it’s used.

I am a parent, guardian or carer attending camp overnight. Will I need a DBS check?

Short answer – Yes. This should be organised through your group.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately due to the terms of the site license no dogs (other than guide dogs) are allowed on site. This includes during drop off and pickup.
